This position is responsible for the promotion and sale of precast/prestressed concrete products through direct customer contact. The success of CTC's Marketing Department relies heavily on the ability of the Sales Engineer to independently promote the use of CTC’s products and to assist with product optimization, budgeting, estimating, and bidding processes. The Sales Engineer interacts with outside design engineering and general contracting professionals in the pursuit of work, as well as CTC design and project management professionals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, initiates action to develop potential new business for the Company. Receives and follows up on leads generated through personal contacts, telephone inquiries, news items, and trade publications.
  • Develops and maintains relationships within the construction industry to promote products.
  • Prepares written or oral responses to project development inquiries, including preliminary product recommendations and cost estimates.
  • Prepares complete takeoffs and bid estimates for projects of a relatively straight forward nature based on customer plans and specifications.
  • Assists Sales Managers on more complex estimates where additional staff is needed for bid preparation.
  • Processes basic material purchase orders and change orders.
  • Maintains marketing statistics and prepares sales and marketing reports.
  • Assists in the development of marketing aides as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of CTC’s product offerings and their applications using fundamental engineering principles. Coordinates with the CTC’s Engineering Department where complex analysis and recommendations are required.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as needed to support the Company as requested by the Director of Marketing.
  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • May be required to work additional hours in support of client needs or competitive bids.
  • Occasional travel inside or outside of Washington State.
  • Location is at CTC’s premises, except for travel as required in support of customers.
  • Employees are required to work onsite at Concrete Technology corporation property, CTC does not offer telecommuting.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. B.S. in Civil Engineering preferred. Construction management/architectural graduate with relevant experience considered.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the construction industry.
