The Vice President, Technical Services serves as the primary technical representative of PCI responsible for processes to develop, review, and disseminate technical knowledge for the precast concrete industry and for specifying entities. As such, there will be an expectation to build the credibility of PCI as a technical institute through professional approaches to development and dissemination of technical information as well as relevant and visible participation in other organizations. The Vice President of Technical Services is a member of the PCI Senior Leadership Team. 4 direct reports; 3 indirect reports

Essential Job Functions

  • Essential job functions are fundamental, core functions common to positions in a classification.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties.
  • Advise and assist the Technical Activities Council to maintain the credibility and consistency of technical information for the industry through strategic document development and critical, in-depth document review.
  • Support the work of the committees in accordance with the Institute Strategic plan and Technical Activities Council priorities.
  • Support and advise the Director of Codes and Standards to assure strategic development of appropriate standards and to assure adherence to proper standards development processes as defined in the ANSI accredited PCI standardization process.
  • Support and advise the Director of Technical Activities to assure adherence to PCI standards. 
  • Work with the Director of Publications to provide technical support for processing technical documents.
  • Advise and assist the Research and Development Council to develop strategic direction for identifying research needs.
  • Serves as staff liaison to Committees as assigned by CEO/President.
  • Acts as PCI representative to appropriate committees of ACI, ASCE, BSSC, CPCI, fib and other groups as identified by the Technical Activities Council and PCI Staff.
  • Manages a $2M budget.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Education: MS in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • Registered Professional or Structural Engineer
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience, including:
    • Precast, prestressed specialty structural engineering services to precast concrete producers
    • Precast engineering positions for precast, prestressed concrete producers
  • Active participation with PCI Technical Committees, with an emphasis on building and commercial projects preferred (parking structures, commercial, multi-story residential, institutional, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the US model code and standards development process.
  • Demonstrated experience in research of precast and precast, prestressed concrete.
