In general, this position requires the supervision and management of Precast Plant employees and plant infrastructure and equipment for the production of structural and architectural precast/prestressed concrete products including, but not limited to, parking garage components, total precast building components, bridge components, stadium components, hollow core plank and miscellaneous precast components.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate production schedules with the Plant General Manager.
  • Schedule, supervise and instruct production Foremen, laborers, Q/C personnel, Weld Shop personnel and Yard Crew (including management of Super-Load projects).
  • Assist Production Engineer with trouble shooting production issues and repair procedures.
  • Assist Hollow Core Production Manager as needed.
  • Job code employee hours and approve time cards using JPC Data Manager System.
  • Assist HR & GM with employee hiring interviews, performance evaluations, disciplining and firing including corresponding paperwork documentation.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance of OSHA safety standards. Prepare accident investigation reports and document and communicate other safety related issues with company HR Officer.
  • Review shop drawings for constructability issues and coordinate most economical production methods including formwork design.
  • Plan, create, and implement improvement programs which give the organization a competitive advantage.
  • Plan and coordinate required materials for each production line so as to provide seamless uninterrupted production.
  • Procure all materials required for the Plant via competitive pricing quotes from a minimum of three vendors/suppliers. Maintain appropriate inventory of basic supplies and job specific materials.
  • Perform general review of all finished product for conformance with shop drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and manage equipment (cranes, stressing jacks, boilers, ect.) routine maintenance and schedule repairs as necessary.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in precast prestressed production processes and production supervision.
  • Excellent planning, organization skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be an excellent communicator and able to deal effectively with a wide range of personalities to form good working relationships to meet the needs of the organization

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license
  • PCI Level II certification a plus

Oversees, manages, and implements entire Quality Control Program, including testing of concrete for characteristics such as proper air content, consistency (slump), and unit weight to ensure proper product specifications and to minimize future irregularities, pre-fabrication inspections, concrete pouring process, post-fabrication inspections. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implements all parts and procedures of Quality Control Program in accordance with ISO 9001Process;
  • Manage efforts in seeking PCI Certification for the division;
  • Interacts with customers regarding BMI's Quality Control;

  • Completes forms and work reports on concrete testing in an accurate and thorough manner;
  • Uses a personal computer to record test results in Microsoft Excel;
  • Completes pre-casting and post-casting inspection forms as required; and
  • Completes pre-shipment inspection forms as required.
  • Communicates to casting lead, production manager, and/or general manager any non-conformant issues and monitors to ensure future compliance;
  • Adheres to BMI Safety Policy; and
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects and research and development as time allows.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and
  • 5 - 10 years related experience working with Precast and Prestressed concrete in quality control is preferred.
  • Equivalent or other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Degrees in Construction or Engineering are preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of or ability to learn the characteristics of concrete and the techniques of concrete testing and inspection.
