Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Summary: Ensure all products meet or exceed PCI specifications and customer quality expectations

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Lead production crew of up to 8 individuals
  • Accurately set up, verify, and pour structural and architectural precast concrete products
  • Assist Production Supervisor in identification of variance or disruption to daily plan
  • Support rigorous training and cross-training of employees
  • Provide consistent guidance, including start-of-day meetings, to set crew expectations and relay pertinent information
  • Communicate with crew and Right-Hand man effectively and respectfully
  • Produce & promote quality at the source following strict architectural precast quality standards
  • Maintain tools and machinery in your area and notify maintenance when necessary
  • Maintain formwork and work area in clean and safe condition at all times

Areas of Accountability:

  • Provide strong leadership to production team
  • Assist in the transformation of the shop floor culture to one of Continuous Improvement and accountability
  • Be instrumental in development and maintenance of architectural precast quality standards and production techniques
  • Demonstrate reliability through exceptional attendance
  • Promote the company Safety Program and ensure that plant personnel adhere to the existing Safety Procedures
  • Supervise crew in a manner that focuses on increasing productivity and lowering material cost while maintaining expected levels of quality
  • Demonstrate ambition to develop personal skills for further advancement


  • Identify, understand, and report safety hazards and unsafe actions immediately
  • Proactively participate in safety program and training
  • Understand & abide by company policies relative to written Safety Program


  • Focused on developing and implementing strict quality standards required of architectural precast concrete
  • Strive for zero quality non-conformances
  • If quality error occurs, assist in determining the root cause and ensure that root cause is eliminated to prevent recurrence

Management Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Management, Production, Quality Control, and other support departments
  • Leads a crew of 2-8
  • Monitors crewmembers’ performance and attendance and report to supervisor


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Experieince with architectrual precast concrete required, strongly prefer long-line prestressed experience
  • Strong attention to detail

Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience in precast production facility with at least 5 years in leadership role. Candidate must have background in architectural precast concrete.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Regularly required stand, push, pull, and kneel for extended periods
  • Regularly required to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work long hours
  • Exposure to construction environment, including dust and noise
  • Exposure to seasonal outdoor elements including extreme heat and cold

Job Overview:

Areas of Accountability:

  • To help promote the quality control efforts of PDM Precast
  • Responsible for promoting the company Safety Program and to ensure plant personnel adhere to the existing Safety Procedures.
  • Responsibility for the short-term and long-term management of employee capabilities.
  • To become proficient in the use of concrete match curing technology.
  • Master documentation and record keeping of Quality Control efforts.
  • Obtain and maintain all pertinent certifications relating to the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, American Concrete Institute, and various Department Of Transportation organizations.
  • Master interpretation of shop drawings.
  • Master concrete mix design skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Quality Control

  • Organize Quality Control personnel as needed for start times, areas of concentration, and other daily activities.
  • Maintain product Color Code System.
  • Conduct and maintain documentation of: prepour inspections, postpour inspections, variance reports, bed shut down process, repairs, shop drawings, fresh concrete testing, hardened concrete testing, aggregate moisture tests, sieve analysis, and initial set tests.
  • Inform Quality Control Manager of any nonconformity of product, personnel issues, or equipment issues.
  • Maintain and update Concrete Mix Design Notebook.
  • Maintain and update materials log and calibrations log.
  • Support cross-training of employees and updating of Flexibility Charts.


  • Correct safety hazards, poor behavior and unsafe actions immediately.
  • Daily 5S compliance.
  • Performs daily safety visual evaluations.
  • Ensure completion of open action items on 5S and R3 Action Item Register.
  • Actively participates in the 5s and R3 programs.
  • Enforces company policies relative to training.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Support resolutions of daily time punch issues.
  • Address discipline issues with crewmembers.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures, i.e. Attendance, etc.
  • Perform employee evaluations as required.
  • Implement safety program and training.


Education: Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Levels I and II certifications. American Concrete Institute Grade I certification Obtain Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Level III certification. Obtain all applicable Department Of Transportation certifications.

Knowledge and Skills: Basic math and computer skills. Leadership, motivational, organizational skills.

Experience: Two years’ experience in precast/prestressed concrete or other related industry.
