General Summary

The Production Controls Manager plans and prepares production schedules for the manufacture of products per delivery schedules set with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects and proprietary information.

Manage production control activities through the use of company software to reduce outages and incidents.

Manage production planning and scheduling for on-time delivery. Recommend process improvements for high quality, cost effectiveness and excellent customer services.

Evaluate current system performance and recommend improvements. Review the project specifics with project management team to determine and plan out appropriate schedules within manufacturing and identify capacity considerations.

Monitor execution of job orders and adjust job schedule to meet deadlines.

Communicate the status of job orders, internally and externally.

Lead daily/weekly meetings to prioritize and plan production activities to maintain on-time delivery.

Prepare production reports as required.

Review daily reports to identify and address equipment malfunctions, material shortages and other factors that affect schedules.

Determine equipment, materials, and staff needs to meet production schedules, utilizing previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.

Coordinate with other departments to determine status of production and to develop company policies and procedures.

Participate in the investigation of material variances. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Prior demonstrated experience in developing a production environment that optimizes output and the use of resources for timely delivery.

Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and/or 5S.

Thorough understanding of production management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, and purchasing.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to effectively listen and engage with all levels of the organization.

Builds strong relationships; engages and motivates teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative.

Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy throughout involvement in multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines.

Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests.

Problem solving skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence .

Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.

Work Environment

General office environment will be experienced.

There will be periodic exposure to manufacturing environments which may present hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.

There will be periodic exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat, wet and/or humid environments.

Physical Demands

Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones, standing and walking

Periodic: Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements

Occasional: Business travel, (5%). Bending squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years' experience in production control related position is required.

Detailed experience and understanding of MRP systems is required.
