General Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for field operations in assigned areas or aspects of the project.  He/she ensures the work is performed in a safe, timely, profitable, and ethical manner, in accordance with contract documents, design, budget, and schedule. He/she directly supervises field labor forces and Assistant Superintendents. 

 Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation.
  • Monitor project labor, materials, subcontractors and equipment as work progresses and take necessary actions to control as he or she shall determine.
  • Has accountability for schedule input and adherence, cost, quality, and project profitability
  • Support positive relationships with clients, designers, consultants and the community
  • Prepare and submit daily reports documenting jobsite progress and conditions for payment purposes
  • Attend and participate in project meetings
  • Supervise and direct Assistant Superintendents and craft through planning, means and methods, manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and work schedule
  • Fully understand project equipment and materials
  • Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, subcontractors and inspection staffs
  • Ensure compliance with project and Skanska’s DBE compliance program

  • Load onto trucks followed by loading on to Barge
  • Experience with loading of Bridge Precast segments
  • 5+ recent years’ experience Precast plant and Heavy Civil Construction (Bridge Building)

Summary/Objective

This position works with the Plant Manager in scheduling the activities of the team and team leaders in the construction and stripping of precast forms; directs and coaches the team in performance of their work; communicates and collaborates with the other plant team leaders and Quality Control personnel to optimize production quality and workflow; and assists the Plant Manager in interpreting and administering company policy.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Assists Plant Manager in establishing and managing production schedules and casting bed utilization.
  • Attends daily production meetings to discuss production schedules, concerns, and opportunities for improvement, and to ensure ongoing organizational teamwork.
  • Meets regularly with the crew leaders to communicate anticipated production sequences, to discuss potential production problems, and to provide opportunity for input on improvement of work processes and work flow.
  • Ensures that complete fabrication of an entire product is accomplished by production personnel, enabling Quality Control personnel to provide an independent check of all work performed.
  • Works with Foreman to ensure that all crew members are engaged in productive work throughout the entire workday or are assigned to designated and pre-established job training, housekeeping, facility maintenance, or recordkeeping tasks.
  • Evaluates the work of laborers for the purpose of determining skill level, training needs, and potential for increased responsibility; and serves as a coach to help these employees expand their career opportunities.
  • Analyze production processes and identify cost reduction/continuous improvement opportunities for improving efficiency, quality, safety and maintenance.
  • Serves as a role model for employees with regard to attendance, timeliness, loyalty, mutual respect and support for organizational teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining plant safety in accordance with the Safety Policies
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in working to continuously improve in all areas.

Summary/Objective

The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading instructions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Batch concrete loads according to mix designs and specifications. Reads dispatch orders and understands required needs for production of materials.
  • Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
  • Must be able to produce on-time & in-spec concrete for the customer. This is a customer focused business.
  • Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment. Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, cleaning, and removing jam-ups.
  • Become proficient in all batching, dispatching, & quality control software.
  • Maintain time and material records.
  • Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
  • Ability to test concrete for conformance with mix design and specification.
  • Ability to conduct moisture tests, yield calculation and yield adjustment of mix designs for conformance with mix designs and specifications.
  • Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment.
  • Must be able to climb man ladder.
  • Follow verbal (in person and over the phone) and written instruction.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Conduct pre-pour and post-pour examination of precast and prestressed concrete to assure product conforms to specifications. Perform other quality-related activities as directed by the QC Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Examine material and product for defects.
  • Verify specific dimensions of product to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensures plant personnel are committed to plant cleanliness.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • One year experience in a prestress/precast environment
  • Must be able to read and understand production drawings
  • Must maintain clear and precise record keeping
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards

SUMMARY:  The Plant/Production Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of the production process from when the job is ready to be scheduled through the completion of the project.   The Plant/Production Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and is responsible for managing all functions of the day-to-day production process including Job & Bed Planning, Mold Shop Fabrication, and Production within all plant areas. Under the direction of the Plant/Production Manager, projects are efficiently and effectively managed to maximize profitability.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • PLANNING / SCHEDULING: Leads planning for production and scheduling of crews for allproduction areas (Bldgs 1, 2, 3, Mixer, Finishing, and Mold Shop).Sets a sense of urgency, determines priorities and ensures ongoing effective communications of all personnel. Manages hours on each job during the production process.Sets up each job with materials and labor in advance to facilitate productive work flow. 

     

  • PRODUCTION OPERATIONS:Manages all Plant, Mold Shop, Finishing, and Mixer employees.Maintains production schedule to maximize productivity and deliver low cost results.  Defines and eliminates waste, works to implement 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing processesIs responsible for daily pour schedule.Works alongside the Operations Manager to ensure all production, mold shop, and other plant activities are run efficiently, creating a team-oriented and quality mindset among the crew.

     

  • QUALITY:Along with the Quality Manager, works to build a “quality minded workforce” in all areas of the plants.Sets high expectations to produce high quality architectural and precast concrete products. Holds QC department accountable for daily pre/post pour checking. Drives quality to ensure that Stonecast is at the highest level of architectural producers.

     

  • JOB PROFITABILITY & GROWTH:  Has overall accountability for job profitability regarding estimated/budgeted hours.Communicates expected labor hours to the crews and is expected to drive the team to meet or exceed the hours from the Daily Production worksheet.Makes changes and enhancements to improve the production flow and operation to increase profitability.
