Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Areas of Accountability:
  • Understand company safety policies and procedures and demonstrate compliance.
  • Support internal & external customers in a manner that supports the PDM Objectives of being a low cost Producer and High quality provider.

  • To continually reduce equipment down time
  • Ensure production goals are met each day (no missed pours because of equipment failure)
  • Ensure equipment is safe and reliable
  • Demonstrate ambition to develop personal skills for further advancement
  • Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintenance
  • Make sure all equipment is operating safe and proper – including trailer, heavy equipment and hydraulics maintenance
  • Make sure preventative maintenance schedules are being followed
  • Ensure that all scheduled maintenance tasks are accomplished
  • Maintain equipment records including all costs being spent on each piece of equipment
  • Communicate to Foreman inventory of specific parts to eliminate down time
  • Ensure all trailer inspections and repairs to be in compliance with DOT
  • Follow all OSHA and ANSI regulations
  • Sample boiler water to make sure it is running in the recommended range
  • If a piece of equipment is found to be unsafe, make sure it is locked and tagged out and not used until the repairs have been made
  • Assist in maintaining inventory log of parts so that we do not end up with overstock.
  • Receive approval for all capital expenditures for plant projects so that accounts payable can keep an accurate up to date budget.
  • Internally works closely with all operators to identify problems with equipment. Also, works with bed foreman and production personnel to make the job of pouring the concrete easier for them
  • Externally maintains good public relations with vendors, outside contractors, and other companies, etc.

  • Communicate Safety Hazards, poor behavior and unsafe actions immediately
  • Daily 5S compliance
  • Review work area with area Forman & communicate non-compliance through the Maintenance Foreman
  • Support safety program and training (Certification of Uniloader / Bobcat, End loader, Forklift, etc.)

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent, 2-year degree a plus
  • Previous Experience: 3 years’ experience in maintenance desired

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge and skills: Mechanically inclined, management, and communications skills required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Physical: Applicants must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended period of time, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs., crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder and be able to work long hours. This position works outdoors year-round and therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat.

Alaska Precast Solutions, part of the Remote Alaska Solutions family of operations, is pioneering Alaskan construction with the launch of its cutting-edge Precast Hollowcore Plank Manufacturing Plant in Nikiski. This role will begin in late 2025, after plant operations commence. We are hiring early to find the right candidate and provide ample time for a seamless relocation, if applicable.

We’re seeking an Equipment Maintenance Lead Technician to oversee and maintain the advanced machinery and systems of our prestressed precast concrete production facility. This position ensures the efficient operation of our state-of-the-art equipment while promoting safety and reliability.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all production equipment, including batching systems, hollowcore machinery, and precast-specific tools.
  • Create and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, making timely repairs to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a detailed log of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance.
  • Source and manage replacement parts and maintain an organized inventory system.
  • Train and supervise maintenance staff, promoting adherence to safety and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address equipment needs and resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards specific to the precast concrete industry.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Minimum of 3 years in industrial equipment maintenance, with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • 2-5 years of experience in prestressed or precast concrete manufacturing equipment maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Elematic technology or Mixer Systems equipment (preferred).
  • General knowledge of the concrete industry and its operational standards.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with production equipment such as mixers, conveyors, and hollowcore systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measuring tolerances, calibrating equipment, and interpreting blueprints or CAD designs.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Pre-employment drug screening and physical exam are required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • PCI or ACI certification (preferred).

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally lift/move heavier objects with assistance.
  • Comfort working in physically demanding environments, including bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and noisy environments common to manufacturing facilities.
