To verify product conformity with PCI and DOT specifications.


  • Manage, direct and supervise QC Technicians as required.
  • Coordinate and schedule DOT and Commercial QA inspectors.
  • Assist production Foremen with form and bed layout as needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management personnel to assure the accurate fabrication of all units.
  • Responsible for preparing, qualifying, and submitting all mix designs used at the plant including self-performing and/or coordinating with outside laboratories to perform all required testing.
  • Become knowledgeable in all DOT, PCI, and job specifications to ensure compliance with same.
  • Communicate with batch plant daily regarding mix performance and coordinate adjustments as needed. Assist batch plant to ensure moistures and gradations are completed as necessary.
  • Occasionally assist Ready-Mix in developing, designing, qualifying and Quality Assuring specialized mixes.
  • Generate production pour schedules via JPC Data Manager System in coordination with Plant Manager and Production Foreman.
  • Notify Plant Manager of any discrepancies that production personnel may have.
  • Pre-Pour inspection and verification of the accuracy of dimensions of units, quantity and location of reinforcement and cast-in items, forms and mold layout, and other matters pertaining specifically to production. Check adequacy of the form to product units without undesirable distortion or surface defects.
  • Inspection, observation and documentation of all stressing operations to insure that specified procedures are followed.
  • Conduct full plastic concrete tests, fabricate representative test samples and perform concrete testing as required.
  • Temper concrete loads as required to ensure concrete delivered to the beds meet job specifications and the needs of production.
  • Post-Pour inspection of all finished products for conformance with shop drawings and specifications.  Conformance must be within specified tolerances that are applicable to each product or within the limits of listed industry standards. 
  • Prepare and maintain complete quality control records for all products including data entry of pertinent product information into the JPC Data Manager system.  Records shall include all information pertaining to the production of each unit and will provide a means by which a unit may be identified.
  • Prepare and track to completion all NCR’s prior to product scheduled ship dates.
  • Execute and document product camber control programs as required including use of transit level.
  • Maintain equipment calibrations.
  • Maintain material certification files.
  • Maintain PCI QSM and prepare formal PCI audit responses.
  • Actively participate in the company health and safety program - report any unsafe conditions immediately.


  • Occasional exposure to construction elements such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.


A combination of education and/or work experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are demonstrated.

  • Good planning, organization, and basic math (geometry, algebra, trigonometry) skills.
  • Broad base of knowledge in concrete construction and testing.
  • Have or become ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I certified.
  • Have or achieve PCI Level III certification.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and able to deal effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Windows, MSO Word, MSO Excel, databases & and data acquisition software.

Job Title:  Field Superintendent

Department:  Field Operations

Reports To:  General Manager

FLSA:  Exempt


Direct and manage all field operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, project erection, and other field-related activities.


  • Implement health, safety and environmental procedures on site in accordance with legislation and company policy to ensure safety of all workers and protection of public. Must possess knowledge of all OSHA and EPA Regulations as they apply to construction field operations and knowledge of building codes, construction standards and good practices. 
  • Identify changes in project scope and assist Project Manager with pricing changes. 
  • Assist Project Manager in establishing working relationship with owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors. 
  • Assist the Project Manager in updating the project schedule to ensure project milestones are achieved; Implement corrective action where necessary to catch up and meet key milestone dates. 
  • Supervise all field personnel to achieve completion of project on schedule to conform to original plans and specifications.
  • Plan and organize project and crews; Coordination of sub-contractors, including follow up on site attendance issues, review of sub-contracted work for quality and completeness, and conflict resolution with sub-contractors. 
  • Provide training and development assistance for carpenters and laborers as needed.
  • Responsible for field documentation such as daily logs, reviewing extra work orders, recording timecards, conducting daily safety inspections and other required reports.
  • Able to review and implement construction drawing and specifications 
  • Order materials and schedules inspections as necessary
  • Experienced in managing, on time and on budget


  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Quality Control Inspector performs and documents QC Inspections of all architectural precast concrete products, evaluating pieces for dimensional accuracy, required tolerances and appearance; and assists in interpreting piece tickets for production.
