Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

KTA is actively hiring reliable and competent ACI and PCI Certified Technicians for full-time work providing QA inspection of the fabrication of precast concrete and reinforced concrete pipe throughout Pennsylvania (ACI Grade I required), Texas (ACI Grade I and PCI II required), and Cumberland, MD (ACI Grade I required). All applicants must be willing to travel and available to work irregular or extended work hours (night shift and/or weekend work).

Education / Experience / Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED – required

The Quality Control Coordinator ensures the timely production of accurate, industry-compliant shop drawings and 3D models for precast concrete projects. This role bridges drafting and engineering teams by coordinating resources, maintaining quality control standards, and streamlining processes. Additionally, the coordinator supports drafters’ professional development. Ideal candidates possess strong technical expertise in precast concrete drafting.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Drafting Team Coordination

  • Act as the primary quality control checker of erection drawings and production shop tickets on assigned projects.
  • Act as the primary drafting contact for project managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Attend project meetings to provide drafting updates and address technical concerns.
  • Review and interpret architectural, construction, and structural drawings, plans, and details from AutoCAD, Revit, and PDF documents.   

Quality Control & Standards Compliance

  • Review precast concrete shop drawings, reinforcement details, and 3D models for accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Enforce company drafting standards and implement best practices for quality assurance.
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to identify and resolve design inconsistencies.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Improve drafting workflows, model organization, and file management.
  • Work with project teams to ensure constructability of designs.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback for drafters.

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Vocation/Technical School certification, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in precast concrete drafting, checking, BIM modeling, or related field with emphasis on quality control.
  • Prior experience leading a drafting team or mentoring junior drafters is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Use of modeling/drafting software tools such as AutoCAD and/or Revit is required. 
  • Understanding of precast detailing, reinforcement, connections, tolerances, and construction processes is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Coordinator at our Prestress Division in Spokane, WA. The Quality Control Coordinator will lead the Spokane Quality Control Team and act as the liaison between outside inspection personnel/agencies and the Spokane Plant. The ideal candidate will ensure that project specifications, PCI standards, and Plant Quality Standards are followed, and that the Plant’s PCI and DOT certifications are maintained.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of the Quality Control Team including duty assignments and scheduling of personnel to ensure Quality Control coverage/availability for each day’s scheduled production.
  • Manages, directs, and reports to management/engineering all quality control program issues.
  • Organizes, files and maintains all quality control documents, programs and manuals.
  • Manages and can hold accountable/regulate and train other plant Team Members on Company Quality Control standards and Quality Control processes.
  • Manages Quality Lab, equipment, and processes.
  • Company liaison to all outside vendors, customers and agencies/inspectors associated with the quality control program.
  • Can respond to field quality issues and trouble shoot problems while maintaining customer loyalty and relationships, including jobsite visits and oversight of field repairs.
  • Trained and capable of adjusting stress calculations.

  • Minimum (2) years of construction/construction materials management experience.
  • Previous precast and quality experience preferred.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Quality Control Technician is responsible to safely perform tasks involving some physical labor for assisting Precast / Prestressed Concrete Product Production. Candidate will be responsible for performing tests as required on raw materials in process components and final product. Participating in tests, inspections, processing methods and material qualifications. Use of a diverse range of hand tools and testing equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction tools and equipment used in testing precast concrete manufacturing.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Perform daily maintenance, cleaning and safety checks of equipment to ensure smooth operation
  • Clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary
  • Perform daily plastic concrete tests and compressive strength testing on hardened concrete specimens
  • Perform daily pre-pour and post-pour inspections of products
  • Perform prestressing inspection tasks
  • Marking of all products.
  • Operate equipment on company property, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
  • Maintain clear and precise record keeping according to ACI, PCI, DOT and Coreslab Structures requirements.
