The Position

The Quality Manger is responsible for ensuring outstanding quality of pre-cast building products. They take ownership of all aspects of quality control including raw materials, manufacturing processes, product finishes, product handling, storage, and installation. Their attention to efficiency, quality, and communication drives cost savings to support Mid-States ability to be exceptionally profitable. This individual will also:

  • Collaborate daily with Production Management to oversee inspection activity of product throughout the production cycle
  • Collaborate with Field Project Management to address customer and field Quality issues; Assure ongoing compliance to quality standards for field operations in particular meeting MNL 116/117 and PCI Erection standards
  • Continuously seek to improve product quality, reduce product defects and scrap, increase manufacturing efficiency, and troubleshoot errors through Six Sigma, Red X, and/or other statistical and root-cause initiatives
  • Regularly reviews and improves upon standard and special mix designs that enhance product quality, reduces manpower requirements, meets customer defined criteria for strength and finishes, and reduces cost
  • Understand, research, and educate others on best-practices for improved quality, including PCI standards
  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements
  • Participate in PCI audits and committees to collaborate with others within precast industry
  • Support Plant safety standards by intervening, resolving, and reporting any safety hazard
  • Impact financial objectives by budgeting expenditures, analyzing cost variances, and reducing scrap through corrective actions
  • Supervise Quality team members and grow their technical expertise; generate SWIs for Quality work assignments; regularly review and manage team performance
  • Collaborate with Quality Team to uphold and improve standards; complete internal/external quality audits to ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • PCI Level 3 Certified
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining quality within a precast concrete facility

  • Experience creating concrete mix designs, prestress calculations, gradations, and QC recordkeeping

The Position

The Field Manager is responsible for ensuring the entire Field team is collaborating, planning, and executing at a level that exceeds our customers’ expectations. The Field Manager works with other departments to drive projects to meet delivery schedules through a safe, high-quality, and efficient installation process. This individual will also be responsible for:

  • Leading Field Department (Project Managers, Field Scheduling Manager, General Field Superintendent, Field Crews)
  • Evaluating, assessing, and developing team members

The Position

The Project Engineer is responsible for creating computations and drawings for precast concrete components and structures, while maintaining a primary focus on safety, cost, and schedule. They provide support and direction to the project team in order to facilitate timely progress on assigned projects. They collaborate closely with sales, production, quality control, project managers, field personnel, contractors, architects, and engineers, and serve as the main customer point of contact through design. This individual will also be responsible for:

  • Preparing structural computations and specify design requirements for precast components, precast structures, and associated connections.
  • Maintaining scope and specification of projects as defined by their proposal and contract.
  • Submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) to provide computations and specify design requirements.
  • Creating submittal drawings prepared by the project design team in conformance with the intent of contract documents and specified design requirements.
  • Generating erection drawings prepared by the project design team for release to production and final approval by governing engineer.
  • Submitting production drawings prepared by the project design team in conformance with erection drawings and specified design requirements.
  • Evaluating and resolving discrepancy reports.
  • Collaborating with the project team for successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Working closely with production, purchasing, and installation teams to resolve project issues.
  • Coordinating accurate estimated completion dates with project managers.
  • Proactively working with the Senior Structural Engineer to create tools to increase productivity.

This position requires in-person onboarding and training in Beloit, Wisconsin. Once training benchmarks are achieved, this role has the opportunity to transition to a partially remote position.

Summary:

The inspection process includes, but is not limited to, evaluating pieces for dimensional accuracy, required tolerances and aesthetic appearance as well in interpreting piece tickets and production drawings (blueprints).

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs pre-pour inspection of all forms, reinforcement, steel and inserts, in a timely manner to maintain optimized workflow and assists in finding ways to decrease delays and cause for rework.
  • Maintains daily and project production records.
  • Checks and verifies all dimensions of cast-in embeds.
  • Completes daily Quality Control documentation.
  • Inspects all finished product. Documents and follows-up on any precast product that requires patching or rework.
  • Ensures that all precast products are correctly marked.
  • Assists other Quality Control personnel in testing of materials and finished products as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining plant and yard safety in accordance with Company Safety Manual and under the direction of the Safety Coordinator.
