As a Quality Control Technician at our esteemed concrete bridge beam manufacturing facility, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and durability in our products. The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct thorough inspections, tests, and analyses throughout the production process to guarantee compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Include but is not limited to the following:
- Assist Q.C. Manager in the interpretation and clarification of production drawings.
- Selects products for inspection before use in production to ensure that requirements are met. This includes the process described in the company's QSM and other manuals. Will participate in specific stages in the production process, test and checks products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, strength, concrete, reinforcement placement, tolerances, and tensioning characteristics
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance or material characteristics
- Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into a computer for analysis
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as company standards and specifications
- Maintain calibration of quality control equipment
- Perform inspections across all stages of production
- Prepare and maintain test data for review
- Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards
- Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly
- Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional certifications in quality control or materials testing are advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Computer literate at basic spreadsheets, word processing, and e-mail communication. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Knowledge of how to convert between metric and English values.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Licenses & Certifications:
Current driver's license, applicable company vehicle licenses, and the ability to complete at a minimum level 1 ACI/MCA certification are a must.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. As part of the Q.C. Team testing on concrete samples is a must. This includes the gathering of specimens in construction type environments. This requires the use of wheel barrels, shovels, brooms, trowels, etc. Test methods required by ACI/MCA will be physical in nature and those same tests will be performed frequently at the plant. It is common to climb ladders, form equipment, and steel stands. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
