Abstract

Presents an historical and state-of-the-art review of the application, design, manufacture, testing, handling, transportation, and erection of prestressed concrete poles throughout the world. Particular  emphasis is given to centrifugally spun precast concrete poles. Design criteria (especially load selection) are discussed in detail together with the relevant provisions from the various codes of practice. It is concluded that prestressed concrete poles will play an increasingly dominant role in the future.
