Stonecast is a growing company and is looking for an experienced Batch Plant Operator.  The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for, but not limited to, managing and facilitating all mixing and pouring operations, including meeting all production deadlines, ensuring accuracy, quality, and specifications of mix designs, and continuous and ongoing maintenance of the equipment.  This position also directs and instructs the Cleaner/Bucket Driver throughout the day and works to fully train the Mixer Backup on an ongoing basis to ensure a smooth transition and establish processes and procedures are consistent throughout the mixing team.

Job Responsibilities:

MIXER/SKIP HOIST MAINTENANCE:

  • Inspect all mixer parts and facilitate daily maintenance per Voeller schedule maintenance program.
  • Preform all Preventative Maintenance checklist as required by Management: (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, semi-annually, Annually.) These must be turned in to the Pant Manager on the day they are completed.
  • Clean Mixer between color changes. (thoroughly clean inside and out between colors).
  • Thoroughly clean Skip Hoist, Aggtherm hopper, mixer, skip hoist, shuttle conveyor, conveyor belts, and loader at the end of each pouring cycle as required. All the above items must be cleaned at the end of each shift before going home.

CONVEYORS:

  • Inspect all rollers and the belt daily for dragging rollers and tears in the belt.
  • Check the belt alignment daily.
  • Clean under and around conveyors daily.
  • Maintain as required per Pre maintenance program.

MANAGEMENT OF POURING PROCEDURE AND BATCHING SCHEDULE:

  • Manage the pour schedule to ensure all areas are getting their cement to keep their pouring on time.
  • Learn and thoroughly understand the communication features between the DCS color system and KF batch programmable controllers for all custom colors.
  • Learn and understand the reporting capabilities of the DCS color machine recorded in the batching system for quality control reporting.

ADMIXTURES/COLOR/CEMENT:

  • Order cement (white and grey) on an as needed basis from select vendors through Purchasing.
  • Order efficiently so over/under filling does not take place.
  • Check
  • Responsible to inventory admixtures, cement, and color on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for ordering from DCS standard 5-6 color totes as necessary to keep up with production.
  • Maintain all DCO color equipment per DCS maintenance schedule.
  • Learn computer programs for color machine.
  • Monitor quality of BASF admixtures and order as necessary.
  • Inspect and maintain lines from admix drums to mixer on a daily basis.
  • Flush out color system between batches if a color change takes place and at the end of each day.

CLEANUP:

  • Clean and power wash the catwalks and mezzanine daily.
  • Ensure all areas are clean and organized at all times.

SAFETY:

  • Follow all safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Never put anything, including your hands or any instrument, in the mixer.
  • Use the Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedure at all times when necessary to inspect or clean equipment.
  • When shutting off control panel, put a tag on the switch to let everyone know the equipment is locked out.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • PLANNING:  Creates annual budget, sales growth, and operating plans for the business, working with the Owner and CFO.  Sales plan includes customer sales targets and new customer accounts.  Operational plans include productivity and cost reduction targets. These plans become the roadmap for the business throughout the year.
  •  SALES & MARKETING GROWTH:   Drives for increased sales through customer visits and introduction of Stonecast in the marketplace.  Oversees estimating process on key projects to ensure the projects are value engineered, scope is clear, engineering is accurate and bid proposals are delivered on time and with accuracy to the correct customers.  Works with sales staff to sell Stonecast and negotiate with customers to be awarded key jobs.
  • FINANCIAL PROFITABILITY:  Understands all the financial levers of the business and acts on them accordingly to drive profitability.  Key levers include increasing margins through sales growth, purchasing of supplies and services, operational costs and savings potential, productivity of the operations, cost of quality and many others.  Leads the business to effectively manage these profit levers resulting in achieving or exceeding financial targets.
  • OPERATIONS:  Holds Quality Control, Plant, and Yard Managers accountable for sound operational practices and policies with a focus on safety, productivity, cost and housekeeping.  Oversees the production schedule to maintain an efficient business flow across the operations.  Ensures the production operations have the right tools and techniques to be an effective and efficient, low cost operation.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE:   Leads the overall quality direction for the business.  Ensures the quality standard is set at the highest level and conforms with PCI standards.  Sets overall direction for Plant, Quality Control, and Yard Managers to perform to the standards and maintain the industry-leading product quality.
  • DESIGN / ENGINEERING:  Assists engineering and project managers in setting standards in design and engineering practices.  Has oversight of all facets of key projects, scope, design and operational challenges, cost, customer awards and schedule.  Understands AutoCAD design software and BIM opportunities for growth.
