KTA is seeking reliable and competent PCI Certified Technicians to provide QA inspection of the fabrication of precast panels and prestressed bridge beams throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and the New England area (VT, NH, CT, and ME). All applicants must be willing to travel. This position is open to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • PCI Level II or III certification issued by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute - required
  • ACI Certified Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification – required
  • PennDOT Concrete Field-Testing Technician - preferred
  • Prior experience in PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Highway and Bridge Construction Inspection and knowledge/use of the PennDOT EQMS system - preferred
  • Experience with prestressed concrete inspection, particularly for transportation and bridge projects

Additional Requirements:

  • PennDOT Concrete Field-Testing Technician - preferred
  • Knowledge and use of the PennDOT EQMS system – preferred

  • Cutting out forms and preparing for panels to be removed from beds

The QC Supervisor position offers a unique mix of leadership, management, operational, administrative, and reporting responsibilities for a thorough, organized and motivated individual who enjoys excelling in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

A viable candidate MUST have both concrete testing and team leadership experience. The ideal candidate will also have concrete mix design, concrete pouring, concrete finishing, blue-print reading and/or other general construction experience. The successful hire will be expected to have the requisite ACI and PCI certifications. The role of the Quality Control department is to ensure that the production of our engineered concrete products is to our customer’s exacting specifications. QC is critical to several areas including product performance, project safety and the Company’s financial performance. A high-performing QC team helps prevent costly product rejects and field repairs while facilitating efficient plant production and shipping.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages and maintains a team of Quality Control Technicians by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members and developing personal growth opportunities. Achieves team results through coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members. Develops team member work schedules. Plans, monitors, and appraises job results. Administers the company safety program in coordination with the Safety Officer.
  2. Oversees, supervises, and monitors the inspection and testing of raw materials, assemblies, bed preparation, concrete production and placement, and finished products to ensure adherence with established quality standards. Administers inspection protocols, sampling procedures, documentation, and the identification, reporting and remediation of deficiencies, all in strict compliance with PCI requirements.
  3. Maintains plant PCI certification eligibility through execution of the Quality Systems Manual (QSM). Conducts annual internal audit. Assures preparedness for unannounced, semi-annual, external audits conducted by PCI.
  4. Maintains proper operation of quality control testing equipment through monitoring, scheduling of necessary and/or required periodic calibrations, and procuring new or replacement equipment as appropriate. Trains technicians and operators of testing equipment on proper operation, care and maintenance to ensure the safe usage and maximum life of testing equipment.
  5. Manages all aspects of concrete mix design including preparation of samples, monitoring aggregate moistures and mix stability, verifying yields, making real-time batching adjustments, conducting pre-live production testing of mix designs, designing and/or qualification of new mix designs, and seeking the counsel of vendor partners for input and assistance as appropriate.

Please Note:

  • The production areas include both enclosed buildings and outside manufacturing facilities. The Company operates all production areas throughout the year.
  • Steel-toed boots are required for this position.
  • A company-provided hard-hat must be worn at all times throughout the plant facility (excepting plant and administration offices).
  • All employees must pass a physical exam and drug screen prior to starting work. The Company utilizes a random drug testing program to ensure the safety of its workforce and customers.
