Position Overview

Reporting directly to the President of Bethlehem Construction, the Controller will be managing all financial elements of the business including P&L, balance sheets, taxes, and cost accounting in operations and budgets. The Controller collaborates across teams to track cost of operations, set budgets, and direct financing strategies/planning and create and maintain efficient administrative systems. Reporting to the Controller position are: Accounts Payable, Payroll and IT.

Job Duties

  • Establish cost-of-goods and tracking of expenses to establish product pricing
  • Create, maintain, and enforce documented accounting procedures
  • Evaluate, design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls, accounting processes and policies for efficiency, cost effectiveness, and accuracy
  • Researches accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles

Summary:

The inspection process includes, but is not limited to, evaluating pieces for dimensional accuracy, required tolerances and aesthetic appearance as well in interpreting piece tickets and production drawings (blueprints).

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs pre-pour inspection of all forms, reinforcement, steel and inserts, in a timely manner to maintain optimized workflow and assists in finding ways to decrease delays and cause for rework.
  • Maintains daily and project production records.
  • Checks and verifies all dimensions of cast-in embeds.
  • Completes daily Quality Control documentation.
  • Inspects all finished product. Documents and follows-up on any precast product that requires patching or rework.
  • Ensures that all precast products are correctly marked.
  • Assists other Quality Control personnel in testing of materials and finished products as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining plant and yard safety in accordance with Company Safety Manual and under the direction of the Safety Coordinator.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 1 & 7 Materials Office has an excellent employment opportunity in the Tampa, Florida area.  The Structural Materials Team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Precast/Prestressed technical area to serve as a Materials Specialist – Precast/Prestress Inspector.  The position will be based out of the Tampa Branch Materials Office and will be responsible for performing quality assurance inspections at facilities that produce various precast and prestressed components (i.e. MSE wall panels, drainage structures, concrete piles and beams, etc.).  Additionally, the incumbent will perform various project level reviews on FDOT projects within the greater Tampa Bay area.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Perform field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with the applicable Florida Sampling and Testing Methods (FSTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) or American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) test methods.  Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order.  Inspect component materials for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications. Inspect completed material or component materials for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications. Inspect facility and operation for compliance with their Quality Control (QC) plan and specification requirements. Document and report findings. Review Quality Control plans, Construction plans, specifications, procedures and any other documents necessary to execute the Department’s mission. Offer solutions when objecting to the approach that is proposed. Inspect materials in the field as requested or required during Construction, Maintenance or Design. Provide feedback and technical assistance to field personnel as appropriate. Document and report findings. Perform Independent Assurance evaluations as described in Department procedures and the Federal Aid Policy Guide.  Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner.  Document and report findings. Provide materials related technical support to customers as requested.  Provide support in time to meet the customer’s needs. Provide guidance and training to customers. Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance. Take timely action to correct any errors in the data.  Actively facilitate the notification of stakeholders of failures or negative trends.

OTHER JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or obtain and maintain CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level 1, Prestressed Concrete Institute I, ACI Self-Consolidation Concrete Testing Technician, ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician, ACPA Precast Concrete Quality School Certification, Construction Math, and Contract Plans Reading. Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT). Must have a valid class "E" Florida driver's license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience using engineering or manufacturing tools, equipment and/or instruments or Prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications; and  Prior experience with evaluating construction materials.

Supervision Received:

Reports to QC Manager. Works with minimal supervision

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products

Daily:

1. Inspect bed set-up according to shop drawings for proper size and placement of all reinforcement, including strands, plate location, all structural connections

2. Note any nonconforming items and notify proper personnel to bring product into conformance

3. Perform concrete testing: slumps, unit weights, air content, release cylinders, 28-day cylinders

4. Set-up steam clocks to insure proper curing temperature

5. Monitor finishing procedures in finishing shed

6. Inspect final products, note any nonconformance’s and notify the Engineering Department for approval or repair work order. All conforming products receive a green tag, all nonconforming products requiring engineering approval receive a red tag

7. Check red tagged members after they are repaired to ensure that they conform to Engineering’s requirements

8. All nonconformance’s for engineering approval are to be drawn up and submitted in writing

9. Release all beds

10. Identify products with stencil

11. Monitor accuracy of pour data

As Needed:
