PCI develops, maintains and disseminates the Body of Knowledge for the precast concrete structures industry through councils, committees, subcommittees, and task groups. These four PCI Group types are made up of hundreds of volunteers representing all major stakeholders in the industry, collectively investing more than 30,000 hours annually.

Transportation Activities Council

Purpose: To develop and guide PCI activities relating to the transportation sector. Mission: To promote and advance precast and precast, prestressed concrete solutions for all transportation-related infrastructure.

Bridge Producers Committee

Chair: Mr. Lee Wegner

Purpose: To provide a forum for bridge producers to discuss plant practices and discuss marketing opportunities. Mission: To advance plant practices and gain market share.

Bridges Committee

Chair: Ms. Julie Sarson, PE

Purpose: To provide a forum for bridge designers and owners to discuss technical aspects of concrete bridges. Mission: To provide technical support for the specification, design, fabrication, construction and maintenance of precast and prestressed concrete in bridges and structures related to all forms of transportation systems such as highways, railroads and other mass transit systems. To cooperate with the AASHTO Committee on Bridges and Structures, AREA Committee 8, and other responsible agencies in developing, reviewing, and revising standards, specifications and recommended procedures for use of precast and prestressed concrete in bridges and structures.

Pile Producers Committee

Chair: Mr. James Parkins

Purpose: To provide a forum for pile producer sales and technical employees to discuss market barriers and challenges of precast, prestressed concrete piles for infrastructure, bridges, and building using the latest AASHTO, ACI, and IBC codes and relevant research. Mission: To develop and disseminate technical knowledge.

Ports and Marine Structures Committee

Chair: Ms. Catrina Walter, PE, M ASCE, LPCI
Staff Liaison: Mr. William Nickas, PE

Purpose: To provide recommended procedures/design guidelines for the specification, design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance of precast and prestressed concrete in ports and marine structures. Mission: To serve as the authority on technical issues and content related to precast and prestressed concrete systems used in ports and marine structures, including piers, wharfs, drydocks, floating berths, and shoreline armoring. Collaborate with the PCI Prestressed Concrete Piling Committee on the incorporation of precast, prestressed concrete piles into such structures using PCI STD 142. Collaborate with the Standards Committee on Seismic Design of Piers and Wharves (COPRI of ASCE), the NAVSEA Engineering and Technical Authority, and other agencies while monitoring their development of standards and specifications.
