PROJECT OVERVIEW
PS 469 is a new public school facility located in the Bronx, New York, developed for the New York City School Construction Authority (NYC-SCA). Designed to serve a growing student population, the building provides a modern, energy-efficient learning environment that integrates seamlessly into its urban surroundings. The multi-story structure includes classrooms, specialty learning areas, and community spaces, all within a durable and visually distinctive envelope suited to the dense Bronx neighborhood.
PRECAST SOLUTION
High Concrete Group supplied the architectural precast concrete façade panels that define PS 469’s distinct aesthetic. The use of ornate formliners helped to achieveintegrated cornices and a unique geometric profile, bringing dimensional character to the building’s exterior. The design utilizes an architectural tan concrete mix that provides warmth and depth, complementing the tan and thin brick inlays and blue terra cotta accents to create a cohesive, visually engaging façade.
Precast concrete proved to be an ideal solution for this K–12 facility, providing a balance of design flexibility, durability, and speed. The PCI-Certified prefabrication process allowed for precise detailing and consistent finishes, while also supporting accelerated construction timelines to meet school-year occupancy goals. The result is a high-quality, architecturally rich building envelope that reflects both craftsmanship and efficiency in modern school design. |
