PROJECT OVERVIEW
To meet the growing demand for accessible parking on a major healthcare campus, VCU Health partnered with Shockey Precast to deliver a durable, efficient, and aesthetically cohesive parking solution. The result: a multi-level precast concrete parking garage designed to support high-volume use while aligning with the architectural language of the broader medical complex.
PRECAST SOLUTION
Medical students and employees of VCU Health System in Richmond, Virginia, now have a more convenient, safer, and more protected parking option on the VCU Health Medical Campus. Built to replace an existing surface lot and developed as a precast concrete design-build project with Howard Shockey & Sons and The Eisen Group, the parking deck provides 1,200 new parking spaces for VCU Health’s medical students and employees and includes parking to accommodate the future growth of the medical campus. Metromont’s Richmond and Winchester, Virginia, manufacturing facilities produced nearly 287,000 SF of precast concrete for the structure, which features LED lighting and security cameras to create a brighter and safer experience for students and employees using the garage.
Additional site improvements include the relocation of the helipad to the western corner of the site to make way for planned improvement to N.7th Street at the I-95 / I-64 interchange. |
