PRECAST SOLUTION

Precast concrete was chosen for the economy of construction, based on the design as well as the speed of panel installation, Olson says. The pool area’s simple shape allowed for a repetitive exterior precast panel with cast-in thin brick. The repetitive exterior made for a very efficient installation process, trimming time off of the construction schedule.

Key Project Attributes

  • Precast concrete was chosen for the economy of construction, based on the design as well as the speed of panel installation.
  • The pool area’s simple shape allowed for a repetitive exterior precast panel with cast-in thin brick. The repetitive exterior made for a very efficient installation process, trimming time off the construction schedule.
  • The ability of the precast panel to accommodate the thin brick and allow for the aesthetic to blend with surrounding buildings was important.
  • The precast insulated wall panels have an architectural precast face mix and two different colors of thin brick.

Project/Precast Scope

  • There were 81 precast concrete pieces of 13-inch-thick insulated walls and 20 pieces of 12-inch-thick insulated walls.
  • Insulated precast concrete walls met the exterior design requirements to provide a clean and modern-looking façade, and kept the structure energy-efficient internally.
