Your role as a Design Engineer:
• Thoroughly and completely review job specifications and plans prior to disseminating design or other technical information.
• Accurately perform all structural and/or other design computations required in the development and construction of precast concrete products. SUMMARY

The Senior Structural Engineer oversees the day-to-day operations of the design engineering and detailing department. This role reports to the General Manager and is a blend of technical design and team leadership, responsible for managing a team of CAD/Revit detailers. Job Summary
The Design Engineer will manage structural precast concrete projects from inception through completion. The role includes structural design, project coordination, customer liaison, drawing review, and technical support across departments.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Take complete ownership of a project from its conception or when it is turned over to engineering from sales.
  • Work closely with project coordinators as erection drawings are being prepared so that the project coordinators can work accurately and efficiently.

  • Shadow Quality Control (QC) tech at the plant

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures safe structures, safe working conditions, quality products, quality service, and satisfied customers by working with all departments within the Company.
  • Interpret Architectural/Structural plans and performs required calculations to ensure structural integrity.
  • Oversees a project design team and is accountable for project milestones and the successful deliverable to internal and external customers.
  • Identifies potential issues with project schedules and quality and responds with proposed solutions with internal teams.
  • Seek advice from senior and peer engineers to aide in unfamiliar designs and responsibilities to find the best solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to find optimal solutions.
  • Coordinates with Contractors/Engineers/Architects/Owners as required
  • Provide sales staff with engineering support for prospect jobs.
  • Visits manufacturing facilities and construction sites as required for assigned projects
  • Handles concerns and issues as necessary during any phase of the project.
  • Needs to make timely, educated decisions based on needs and requirements.
  • Prepares appropriate fixes for errors that have occurred on the projects

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a preference of a structural focus
  • 3+ years of experience required, and a preference in design engineering in the precast industry.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
