Student Memberships

Mid-Atlantic will sponsor students interested in membership in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. Students must be in an accredited program and sponsored by a professor. Any reputable individual engaged or interested in the plant-produced precast and prestressed concrete industry as a producer, supplier of materials and/or services, architect, engineer, contractor, developer technician, educator or student, is eligible to apply for membership.

Lectures

Lectures are offered to both undergraduate and graduate classes for schools of engineering, architecture, and construction management. A list of topics covered in a typical lecture follows. Lectures can be modified to cover specific topics of interest.

Schools of Engineering

This lecture may be presented as part of the undergraduate reinforced concrete design class as an introduction to prestressed concrete design. It can also be given as an introduction to the graduate class in prestressed concrete design at the start of a semester. The program is about an hour long.

This lecture may be used for the fourth or fifth year students and works particularly well if students are working on a specific building project. The lecture is one hour long.

Text Book Distribution Program

PCI has established a program to distribute key industry handbooks free of charge to qualified students attending college and technical institutes studying the fields of architecture, engineering, construction and CAD. The program simply asks the professor to write to PCI on school letterhead requesting the publications for each student from the list below for each student.
