Project Overview
RWJBarnabas Health required a new multi-story parking facility to serve its Medical Office Building in Bayonne, New Jersey, while also providing public parking for the surrounding business district. Nitterhouse Concrete Products was engaged to fabricate and erect a 4-story, 120,000 SF precast concrete parking garage providing over 300 parking spaces. The structure serves both the medical campus and the broader community, reinforcing the healthcare provider's role as a neighborhood anchor.
Precast Solution
The project site in the heart of Bayonne's central business district presented the most demanding logistical challenge: delivery and erection in a dense urban environment with limited staging area and heavy surrounding traffic. Nitterhouse worked closely with the general contractor and local police to identify the optimal staging location and delivery route. The result was a seamless erection process completed without disruption to the surrounding businesses and roadways. The architectural treatment — combining tan and white concrete with multiple sandblast depths, two distinct thin brick types (Watsontown Brick and Belden Brick), and monolithically cast cornices with dentil details — produced a refined façade well-suited to the commercial streetscape |
