PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center Parking Garage, located on the Princeton Medical Center campus in Plainsboro, NJ, is a major new infrastructure addition designed to support the growing needs of healthcare patients, visitors, and staff. This six-level, 1,200-space, approximately 400,000 sq ft facility delivers significantly increased parking capacity — nearly 60% more than prior availability — enhancing campus access, circulation, and site safety. The structure incorporates modern amenities including EV charging stations, advanced wayfinding systems, and integrated pedestrian safety features to improve the overall user experience and reflect the high standards of Penn Medicine Princeton Health’s patient-centered environment.
Constructed through a collaborative effort between Jersey Precast Corporation, the LF Driscoll / Balfour Beatty Joint Venture, with THA Consulting serving as the Engineer-of-Record and The Consulting Engineers Group providing consulting engineering services, the project was completed ahead of schedule with an efficient precast erection strategy that reduced total construction time by 40% — proving the effectiveness of precast concrete in complex healthcare facility applications.
PRECAST SOLUTION
Jersey Precast provided a fully engineered precast concrete solution that was essential to the successful delivery of the Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center Parking Garage, now open and serving patients and visitors with 1,200 spaces across six levels. The project relied on precast concrete’s ability to deliver quality, durability, and speed of construction, benefits that allowed the parking structure to be completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the active hospital campus.
Precast components formed the primary structural system of the garage, including double tees, beams, columns, shear walls, and spandrels, all manufactured in a PCI-Certified and controlled environment to maintain high tolerances and consistent performance.
Architectural precast cladding creates a cohesive visual identity that directly complements the Princeton Medical Center campus. Close coordination between Jersey Precast’s design team and field personnel ensured that detailing was precise and erection activities progressed smoothly, reducing on-site adjustments and expediting completion.
The use of a comprehensive precast solution supported not only structural and aesthetic goals but also contributed to safety and sustainability features valued by University of Pennsylvania Health System stakeholders. By combining advanced fabrication capabilities with thoughtful coordination, Jersey Precast helped deliver a parking facility that meets both functional demands and long-term performance expectations for a major healthcare destination. |
