Key Project Attributes

  • The design challenges included a client with high expectations for a new image for the campus and aesthetically addressing the large facade area of the building, while staying within budget. The precast design provided an economical solution to achieve the variations in the precast panels to create visual interest across the large facade area, while also offering the repetition and installation efficiency of panelized construction.
  • The architectural and economical design of precast panels enabled the combined use of other materials within the budget to achieve the client's goals for a memorable new campus image.

Project/Precast Scope

  • Overall there are 150 pieces of precast totaling 30,736 square feet on this project.
  • Buff precast in a random ashlar-style formliner pattern creates a dynamic presence for the main facade, introducing playful alternating horizontal lines and a constant yet subtle variation of light and shadow throughout the day.
  • Black thin brick and mortar panels at the base create vivid contrast with the buff formliner panels above and a rich interplay of textures.
