Jason O’Rear Key Project Attributes
- It was important for each building in the large project to have its own unique identity, but the whole neighborhood also had to have a cohesive feel overall.
- Mission Rock is a key gateway development on a prominent, previously undeveloped site. It includes ground-floor retail, multilevel terraces, a main roof deck, and a creative interpretation on a traditional façade.
- The finished product feels different from other new mixed-use developments. The architecture of the buildings speak to each other, even though they have very distinct identities
Project/Precast Scope
- Architectural precast concrete panels clad the 13-story office building, which has a large footprint but a pedestrian scale in this walkable community. The finished product feels different from other new mixed-use developments.
- The precast concrete design also had to accommodate seismic joints, which were hidden as much as possible.
- To incorporate the unique geometries across the building envelope, the precast concrete components span three bays wide with three windows per panel or approximately 21-ft modules.
