Webinar - How Precast Builds

How Precast Builds: Parking Structures that Deliver the Precast Concrete Promise

This webinar will highlight two award winning precast concrete parking structure project case studies, one in the Midwest and one on the West Coast. The learning content will focus on how the precast concrete components were able to be designed to meet the building's program requirements. They will also describe how the use of precast concrete for the project facilitated seamless integration with adjacent natural features and adjoining structural and architectural systems.

  1. Understand precast concrete parking structures, including their standard components and custom design opportunities.
  2. Understand best practices in designing parking structures with precast concrete systems for aesthetics, resilience and safety.
  3. Use a mixed-use structure case study that includes a precast concrete parking structure to (Ft. Wayne, IN) to help participants understand the core value of precast concrete parking structures for owners and design teams.
  4. On the basis of a higher education case study presentation (Sacramento, CA), understand how precast concrete parking structures can be designed to connect with nature and provide exceptional resilience.

Thomas Ketron is a strategic marketing and communications professional with over 20 years' experience ranging from the telecommunications and software industry to construction and prefabricated building systems industry. He is a founding member of the Precast Concrete Institute’s Sustainability Council and serves on the Institute's Marketing Council. A LEED accredited professional, he looks for ways to communicate value and help bring meaningful and transformative technologies into constructive products and systems that can help make the world a better place.

At the core of his being, Jason Silva is best described as an inventor. As the Design Principal at Dreyfuss + Blackford, he continues to push the boundaries of traditional architecture. Fascinated by both phenomenology and the mechanics of materials, Jason’s work is predominantly performance driven, advanced by technologies in design and fabrication. Breaking down complacent norms, he continues to ask “what can be done to make ______ better?”

After receiving his professional degree in Architecture from Ball State University, Jim Hoch began his career in Indianapolis assisting in design and construction documentation of office and commercial architecture. Upon moving back to his roots in Fort Wayne, Jim continued with design and project management of health care and commercial offices, as well as the telecommunications industry, throughout northeastern Indiana. In 1994, Hoch Associates was incorporated with a concentration in these same areas of architecture and expanded its presence in Indiana with a second studio in Indianapolis in 1997. The firm’s accomplishments have garnished several award winning projects most recently the Skyline Plaza Garage development in downtown Fort Wayne, which received the Engineering News Record Midwest’s Best Government Project, and the Promenade Park River Development currently being constructed.
