Project Cost: $166 million ($14.76 million for the precast concrete)
Project Size: 88,003 ft2 Key Project Attributes
- 730 Stanyan is a new affordable housing development located in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood.
- The development features 160 apartments for low- to moderate-income families across eight stories and 88,003 ft2.
- In addition to the apartments, 730 Stanyan houses community-serving retail establishments, resident support spaces, and youth and senior programming.
Project/Precast Scope
- The building envelope for 730 Stanyan comprises 460 precast concrete panels. Architectural precast concrete panels form the street level, with the remaining floors built with glass-fiber-reinforced concrete (GFRC).
- Building information modeling (BIM) played a heavy role in the design and construction of the development, enabling precision in fabrication; integration with mechanical, engineering, and plumbing systems; and efficient installation.
- Use of a precast concrete system for the building envelope resulted in faster construction, a safer jobsite, and a sustainable approach to the effort.
