Sierra Nevada Brewery - A Precast Concrete Case Study

Sierra Nevada Brewery - A Precast Concrete Case Study
Sierra Nevada Brewery - Overview of Design, Fabrication, and Construction - A Precast Concrete Case Study. The webinar will provide an overview of the owner’s intent and commitment to responsible building operations and LEED Platinum Certification. It will provide an overview of design intent, challenges and design/build team solutions.

Sustainable design drove the construction of the Sierra Nevada Brewery complex. The design/build team, facing a tight schedule and the need to provide a high-quality structure with long-term performance benefits, turned to precast concrete components to create the structural shell and façade for the compound’s large warehouse. The owners were so impressed with the benefits that they used it for most of the rest of the buildings in the complex as well. The overall project contains eight structures, six of which feature a total precast solution, plus two precast bridges on the complex's approach roadway.

The team produced value-engineered designs for the brew house, recycle building, waste- water treatment facility, administration building, pub/restaurant, and truckers’ office. Despite record rainfall and a harsh winter, the project was completed ahead of schedule, saving both time and money. Precast concrete also helped achieve the desired status of LEED Platinum Certification aiding in several areas, including optimized energy performance, construction-waste management, use of recycled materials, and use of regional materials.
