Description: This course will describe the different applications of architectural precast concrete components. The speaker will demonstrate how architectural precast components can serve both aesthetic and structural functions. Utilizing precast as structure, eliminates the need for redundant systems, reduces material needs and speeds the construction process. The presentation will cover life safety design options (i.e., FEMA shelter designs using precast concrete), production methods and installation considerations (jobsite process and protocols using architectural and structural precast erection sequence and methods). Additionally, the course will provide aesthetic options available including unlimited shapes, an array of colors and various texture choices. When complete, the attendees will gain a complete understanding of how to design with architectural precast concrete.
