Continuing its drive toward the design and construction of high-performance structures, PCI wants to ensure that professionals have a full understanding and knowledge of high-performance precast concrete and its benefits, applications, and design methodologies.

PCI is proud to introduce PCI’s Online Academy, a continuing education series for engineering professionals and students. Each course consists of weekly, 90-minute sessions over a period of four to six weeks. Continuing education credits will be awarded at the conclusion of each course. Courses are offered via an online delivery system, allowing courses to be taken from anywhere in the world!

The courses are taught by leading professors and industry experts in precast/prestressed concrete design. These subject matter experts have significant experience teaching precast/prestressed concrete topics and format classes to optimize learning.

Participants are not required to have prior precast/prestressed concrete experience. Program content will be technical and useful to those designing precast/prestressed concrete structures or who intend to do so in the near future, such as licensed engineers, EITs, professors, and graduate and undergraduate students.

PCI offers training for quality control technicians to prepare individuals for PCI personnel certification examinations.

Level I begins the series of quality schools and starts off with a review of PCI certification programs, both plant and personnel. The curriculum was developed especially for quality control personnel, engineers, technician/managers, plant managers/superintendents, consulting engineers, and technicians. However, the schools and certifications are open to everyone involved in planning, operations, and quality control in the precast products industry.

The course is five (5) sessions long and covers basic concrete topics; mix design concepts (such as the water/cementitious ratio) are introduced and as well as beginning design concepts such as concrete strength, conventional reinforcing bars, and concrete testing

  • Each session is designed to optimize learning regarding the standards defined by plant quality control manuals MNL-116 and MNL-117
  • Content is useful in the design and production of precast, prestressed concrete structures
  • Students will receive a copy of the valuable Quality Control Technician/Inspector Level I & II Training Manual, TM-101, plus class notes and extensive reference material.
  • Weekly quizzes will serve as preparation for the Level I quality control exam.


Registration covers the cost of the Level I certification exam, which will need to be administered by a local proctor.  The cost of the proctored exam will be waived for all registrants of the online Level I school.
