Abstract
This article describes the concept and application of a composite precast, prestressed concrete system for wharfs in marine areas. The precast system comprises piles, beams and a composite slab with a cast-in-place concrete topping. The resulting structure is functional, has strength, long-term durability, economy and can be erected quickly. Design-construction highlights of the project are discussed.
