Proj Overview

Project Overview

Multi use Athletic Complex in Romeoville consisting of a 50,000 square foot soccer area and a 20,000 square foot basketball area. All open spaces are flexible to accommodate the particular sporting event. Now titled the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, the community facility will add to the success of Uptown Square by attracting an estimated 400,000 visitors annually.

The 76,000 square foot sports complex offers two indoor soccer fields, eight hard courts for basketball/volleyball and dance classes, community meeting rooms, concessions, spectator seating, storage areas, office space, and multipurpose space to accommodate special events and expos. In addition to soccer, the indoor turf field accommodates lacrosse, football, softball, and rugby teams.

Precast Solution

The use of numerous structural and insulated precast concrete wall panels with thin brick provided aesthetic appeal and easily handled the 32-foot and 36-foot clear heights required. Use of precast hollow-core planks allowed for a mezzanine area. Exterior arch feature required special mold work.
