Proj Overview

Project Overview

This new downtown parking garage is a six-story structure with 690 parking spaces and 17,300 ft2 of street-level retail space. The garage, erected on 42,000 ft2 of vacant land, includes a pedestrian walkway along one side. Major challenges encountered were the limited space at the site, a tight schedule, and a limited budget. The use of precast construction—including precast columns, beams, spandrels, architectural wall panels, double tees, and stair risers—helped overcome these barriers.

Precast Solution

The flexibility of the precast shapes and sizes allowed designers to move past the limited space on the jobsite and create a structure that was able to be constructed with ease.

Since precast is a prefabricated product manufactured in flexible production facilities, multiple components could be produced simultaneously. This allowed for a shorter period between design and the start of erection of the structure, which significantly saved on the overall cost of the project.

Reducing the time on site also resulted in a large cost savings to the owner.
