Papers are selected by the PCI Journal Awards Committee from those that have been published in the PCI Journal from July 1 of the preceding year to June 30 of the current year.

The Martin P. Korn Award, established in 1960, is named in honor of PCI’s first executive director. It is given to recognize an author or authors for the best design/research/state-of-the-art paper on precast concrete used in buildings and other structures published in the PCI Journal during a single year.

The Robert J. Lyman Award, established in 1976, is named in honor of PCI’s eighth president and third executive director. The award recognizes the author(s) of a paper published in the PCI Journal during a single year, offering the greatest contribution to the advancement of plant production, site erection, or general construction of precast concrete structures.

The George D. Nasser Award was established in 2004 to honor the PCI Journal editor emeritus. This award is given to recognize authors who are 40 years of age or younger for a paper published in the PCI Journal during a single year relating to the design, research, production, or construction of precast concrete structures.

The Charles C. Zollman Award was established in 1981 as the State-of-the-Art Award and was later renamed to honor PCI’s first Technical Activities Committee chair. It recognizes the best design/research/state-of-the-art paper on precast concrete used in transportation infrastructure that was published in the PCI Journal during a single year.

The T.Y. Lin Award is annually presented by the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Professor T. Y. Lin was an eminent prestressed concrete pioneer who played an influential role in the formation of PCI. He endowed the award to ASCE in 1968 to recognize outstanding engineers and their contributions to the field of prestressed concrete. The award is presented to the best paper written or coauthored by members of ASCE in the various publications of ASCE, PCI, and the American Concrete Institute during a 12-month period.
