Summary/Objective

The role will be responsible for performing routine tests as required on raw materials, in process components and final product. The candidate will participate in the validation of tests, inspections, processing methods and materials qualifications. Position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of Quality Control functions including, but not limited to, the following:

Job Duties

  • Perform daily compressive strength testing of hardened concrete specimens
  • Assist when necessary with strip, setup, and pouring of products
  • Perform daily pre/post pour inspections on products
  • Inspect in-process and finished goods against quality standards
  • Inspect loaded trailers for final inspection and complete load certifications as needed
  • Record keeping of inspection and testing results
  • Work with appropriate Manufacturing, Engineering and Project Management Personnel to develop root cause and implement corrective action
  • Participate in development and implantation of Quality Manual to meet regulatory agency requirements
  • Ensure entire facility meets specifications set forth by area Departments of Transportation
  • Collect, analyze, develop and present appropriate quality data, statistics, information and action plans
  • Complies with all health and safety guidelines
  • Communicate and interact with customers, suppliers as appropriate
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college; or equivalent in years of related experience or training preferred
  • Basic computer skills required, proficient with Microsoft Office.

Other Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience in quality assurance is preferred
  • ACI / PCI Certification preferred (Highly desire a candidate who has attained the ACI Field Technician Grade I or PCI Level I/II Certification)
  • Experience with construction materials
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Required to pass ACI Concrete Field Testing Methods/maintain certification
  • Must be willing and able to work any of the shifts and weekends when necessary.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Conduct pre-pour and post-pour examination of precast and prestressed concrete to assure product conforms to specifications. Perform other quality-related activities as directed by the QC Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Examine material and product for defects.
  • Verify specific dimensions of product to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensures plant personnel are committed to plant cleanliness.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • One year experience in a prestress/precast environment
  • Must be able to read and understand production drawings
  • Must maintain clear and precise record keeping
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • PCI Level 1and Level 2

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Coreslab Structures (OKLA) Inc., Oklahoma’s premier precast concrete supplier, is excited to announce that we are currently adding QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIANS with ACI and/or PCI certification to our Quality Control team. The QC Tech position offers a unique mix of plant, administrative and reporting responsibilities for a thorough, organized and computer-literate individual who likes being in the middle of the action.

The ideal candidate will have concrete testing, concrete pouring, concrete finishing, blueprint reading and/or other general construction experience. Individuals must possess current ACI and/or PCI certifications (Level II or III preferred) to be considered for immediate hire. All QC Technicians are expected to maintain ACI and PCI certifications with the Company’s full support. Long-term opportunities abound including QC Supervisor, QC Manager, Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Production Trainer and Bed Scheduler to name a few.

The role of the Quality Control department is to ensure that the production of our engineered concrete products is to our customer’s exacting specifications. QC is critical to several areas including product performance, project safety and the Company’s financial performance. A high-performing QC team helps prevent costly product rejects and field repairs while facilitating efficient plant production and shipping.
The role has been developed with three primary areas of responsibility, detailed as follows:

1. Conduct in-process inspections, document results and variances from plans

  • Perform pre-pour bed inspections
  • Perform inspections of reinforcing and stressing operation
  • Perform fresh concrete testing including preparation of cylinder samples

2. Evaluate finished products, document approval or deficiencies

  • Perform post-pour bed inspections
  • Examine dry finished product for compliance with specifications (sandblast, etc.)
  • Prepare and distribute deficiency or rejection reports when appropriate
  • Mark approved products for shipment and record in software system

3. Conduct other quality and material tests as required

  • Perform raw material testing (i.e. sieve testing of rock and sand)
  • Perform cylinder compression testing


The compensation range for this position is commensurate with experience, performance and ACI/PCI certification level.
