PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Greenfield High School Auditorium in Greenfield, Indiana is a 45,000-square-foot facility that features seating for 1,400 people. This new space was designed to give students, faculty, and the community a place to gather, perform, and celebrate. From a structural standpoint, the project included a series of large precast panels that not only added durability and a high-quality finish, but also allowed for a faster, more efficient construction timeline.
Visually, the finished auditorium is clean and modern, yet it fits seamlessly with the existing school architecture. The exterior features three types of thin brick, arranged to add both texture and depth. This custom brickwork brings a unique touch to the design, helping the new addition stand out while still feeling like part of the original campus.
PRECAST SOLUTION
Precast concrete was chosen for the Greenfield High School auditorium addition because of its durability, speed of installation, and long-term cost-effectiveness. With school construction often working within tight timelines and budgets, precast allowed for a quicker construction process without sacrificing quality. The panels were produced off-site and delivered ready to install, minimizing disruption to the school’s daily operations and ensuring the project stayed on schedule.
A total of 84 insulated precast wall panels were used, some 13 inches thick and others 16 inches thick, covering 39,713 square feet of wall space. |
