This course introduces the principles, materials, and construction practices involved in embedding clay thin brick veneer into precast concrete systems to create durable, high performance architectural façades. With more than 40 years of successful use, embedded thin brick has become a reliable solution for modular construction across multiple building types. Participants will learn how the prefabrication process enhances quality control, including the dimensional and physical property requirements that govern thin brick selection for safe and consistent performance. The course reviews the precast manufacturing workflow—from material preparation to installation—and highlights how factory controlled production contributes to building envelope durability and long-term serviceability. These topics directly support Health, Safety, and Welfare by addressing structural reliability, occupant protection, and resilient design. The session concludes with case studies illustrating real world successes and challenges, reinforcing best practices that improve project outcomes and reduce risk in the design and construction of architectural precast systems.
