Foundations of Sustainability for Precast Producers

This free non-CEU, PCI member's only webinar is part one of the Toward Lower-Carbon Precast Concrete webinar series.

This three-part webinar series, Toward Lower-Carbon Precast Concrete, will educate PCI producer members on sustainability principles and practical mix innovations that reduce embodied carbon while maintaining or improving performance.

The first webinar, Foundations of Sustainability for Precast Producers, will focus on sustainability drivers, such as market, code, and policies; environmental impact reporting including EPDs, LCAs, and PCRs,; how transparency benefits PCI members and informs plant strategy; and the roles of plant personnel and engineering teams in innovation.

By the end of this three-part webinar series, participants will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between traditional cement and emerging low-carbon alternatives, including blended cements and PLC.
  2. Identify commonly used SCMs and their environmental and performance characteristics in precast concrete applications.
  3. Evaluate the potential benefits and limitations of substituting cementitious materials in terms of carbon reduction, availability, and technical performance.
  4. Recognize how mix innovation with cement materials supports compliance with EPD and sustainability documentation requirements.
  5. Apply insights from recent case studies to initiate or improve cementitious material strategies at their own precast concrete facilities.
