Guidelines for the Use of UHPC in Precast Concrete

This free, CEU webinar is available to PCI members and non-members.
Guidelines for the Use of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) in Precast and Prestressed Concrete

In response to the great potential of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) to improve the efficiency and durability of precast concrete structures in many applications, PCI’s Concrete Materials Technology committee published TR-9-22 “Guidelines for the Use of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) in Precast and Prestressed Concrete”. This presentation will highlight important recommendations and best practices described in this document, which provides guidance on the practical implementation of UHPC materials in precast production facilities. Topics covered by the guidelines include: constituent material selection, mixture design, material properties and evaluation, production, curing, and quality inspection and testing. The Guidelines also include a guide specification for PCI-UHPC, outlining minimum performance criteria for UHPC compatible with the design guidance provided in the recent PCI research project titled “Implementation of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete in Long-Span Precast, Pretensioned Elements for Concrete Buildings and Bridges.”

Date and time: Wednesday, February 8, at 2:00 p.m. Central time.

CEU Credit: Submitted for AIA CES approval

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  1. Define the key performance characteristics of PCI-UHPC.
  2. Describe methods for materials selection, proportioning, and mixing of UHPC mixtures based on locally available materials.
  3. Explain the fundamentals of PCI-UHPC production.
  4. Identify appropriate test methods for UHPC qualification, acceptance, and information.
