The PCI logo is a cornerstone of our visual identity. Unveiled in October 2005, this logo
has a story behind its development.
Meaning
Logos are heavy lifters. The best logos convey deep meaning, both in how they physically
appear (shape, style, color, typography) and in what they symbolically represent – what they
stand for.
• Visually communicates the essential nature of PCI as an organization and precast as a construction material.
• Serves as a symbol for PCI’s aspiration – an organization charged with supporting and fostering the growth of the precast/prestressed industry.
• Reflects the aspirations for the future of our members and their industry as a whole.
• Represents many facets of the PCI producer family – from those who serve the building and construction side to those who focus on transportation and bridges. |
Design
The PCI logo conveys deep meaning in how it physically appears (shape, style, color, and
typography):
• Box and arch shapes represent the building and the bridge – literally and figuratively.
• An arch rising out of the box represents both the solid structural integrity of precast, as well as its ability to span, extend and inspire new design possibilities – now and into the future,
• Location of PCI lettering is purposefully positioned below the box and arch to emphasize the Institute’s role in supporting its members and fostering the growth of the industry,
• Font style of the “PCI” lettering, with pronounced serifs at the top and bottom of the “P” and the “I”, conveys stability and support, while indirectly conjuring up familiar shapes and structures from the array of precast products,
• Sweeping curves in the “P” and “C” visually synch with the sweep of the arch above, integrating the two components of the logo, and
• Color usage of blue and the supporting palette of secondary colors (identified in the PCI Design Guidelines) are selected to retain a measure of continuity with the use of blue in PCI’s 50th anniversary marketing materials, while freshening and heightening the appeal of precast in the eyes of architects, engineers, specifiers and owners. |
Usage and application of the PCI logo should strictly follow the guidelines identified
in the PCI Design Guidelines.
The PCI logo consists of the “break the mold” graphic positioned as shown over PCI.
There are three (3) variations for presenting our logo:
A: Icon and initials only
B: Icon and initials stacked above Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute
C: Icon and initials with Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute to the right
The PCI logo should always be applied carefully and with respect.
Never recreate or manipulate the logo. Always use original digital files.
The smallest acceptable use of the logo is 0.75” wide.
The logo must not deviate from the corporate colors or distorted in any way.
The logo is to be kept at a distance (clear zone) from competing text or imagery.
This clear zone is a unit of measure defined on Page 4 of this guide.
Tag lines, phrases or graphics positioned as part of the logo are not permitted.
