Greg Winkler, AIA, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Precast Associaton, will be presenting "The International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and Functional Resilience – Opportunities For Precast"
Presentation Description: Sustainability has historically focused on how building products are manufactured and how buildings are constructed. Increasingly, however, owners and architects are demanding high performance products—those that reduce the operation and maintenance costs of a building over its lifetime. The new International Green Construction Code, launching in March 2012, will shift the measure of sustainability to the performance side of the equation. Through the concepts of functional resilience, ascending performance, and embodied energy balance, the precast industry can position itself on the leading edge of this new trend. This presentation will introduce these new concepts in marketing precast sustainability.
